Arichemie Drives the Transition to Climate Neutrality
Arichemie is consistently pursuing its sustainability strategy and investing specifically in measures to reduce the environmental footprint of its site.
As a specialist in pigment preparations, Arichemie continuously works to reduce emissions, use resources more efficiently, and further develop sustainable solutions. Only electrical energy is required for the mixing and dispersion processes. In October 2024, the company commissioned its own photovoltaic system with a battery storage unit at the site. The objective was to cover a significant proportion of its electricity demand with self-generated solar power. Since 2025, Arichemie has also sourced 100% of its externally purchased electricity from renewable energy sources.
Following completion of its 2025 Sustainability Report, Arichemie is publishing specific key figures on energy generation, energy consumption, and the associated greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions for the first time.
Energy Supply in 2025 as a Share of Total Demand
43,6 % Externally purchased renewable electricity
30,1 % Directly used PV electricity
3,7 % Electricity from battery storage
22,6 % Fossil energy
Arichemie therefore exceeded its 2025 target for the use of self-generated solar power: 68.8% of the PV electricity generated was used directly by the company. Including the battery storage system, a total of 33.8% of energy demand was covered by solar power generated at the site.
There has also been a positive development in energy-related indirect greenhouse gas emissions (Scope 2): these declined from 156.9 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent in 2024 to 26.4 tonnes of CO₂ equivalent in 2025. Compared with the 2023 base year, this represents a reduction of 83.2%, significantly exceeding the medium-term reduction target of 58% by 2030.
Since 2025, the procurement of renewable electricity has complemented the company’s own electricity generation through the photovoltaic system and represents a key component in reducing Scope 2 emissions. By expanding its sustainable energy supply and focusing on innovative, resource-efficient products, Arichemie is strengthening its long-term viability and making an active contribution to the transformation of the chemical and coatings industries.
